Al Pacino Has Announced “Incredibly Personal” Memoir, ‘Sonny Boy’

Al Pacino has unveiled the details of his upcoming memoir, ‘Sonny Boy,’ slated for release later this year.

The iconic actor known for his roles in ‘Scarface’ and ‘The Godfather’ will see his book published by Penguin Random House. Described as the “memoir of a man who has nothing left to fear and nothing left to hide,” the press release further labels it as “an astonishingly revelatory account of a creative life in full.”

‘Sonny Boy’ will delve into Pacino’s childhood in New York, his upbringing under the care of his “fiercely loving but mentally unwell mother and her parents,” his circle of friends in the Bronx, and his time at New York’s renowned High School of Performing Arts.

The memoir will also explore Pacino’s involvement in the avant-garde theatre scene of New York during the ’60s and ’70s, preceding his breakthrough roles in films such as ‘The Panic of Needle Park,’ ‘The Godfather,’ ‘The Godfather Part II,’ ‘Serpico’ and ‘Dog Day Afternoon.’

In a press release statement discussing ‘Sonny Boy,’ Pacino said, “I wrote Sonny Boy to express what I’ve seen and been through. It has been an incredibly personal and revealing experience to reflect on this journey what acting has allowed me to do and the worlds it has opened up. My whole life has been a moonshot, and I’ve been a pretty lucky guy so far.”

‘Sonny Boy’ is scheduled for release on 8th October.
