It all began with a 1985 New York magazine cover that famously dubbed them the ‘Hollywood Brat Pack’, a group of emerging young stars featured in various coming-of-age classics like ‘Pretty in Pink’, ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ and ‘The Breakfast Club’. Recollecting his initial reaction to the label, McCarthy candidly shares his thoughts in the trailer, reflecting on how this term came to define their careers.

The lineup includes Demi Moore, Anthony Michael Hall, Timothy Hutton, Molly Ringwald, Rob Lowe, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, and Emilio Estevez, all members of a tight-knit cohort of actors who left an indelible mark on ’80s cinema. In the documentary’s trailer, McCarthy reconnects with his former co-stars, with Emilio Estevez agreeing to participate while expressing his reluctance to be associated with the Brat Pack label for so long.

Rob Lowe delves into the profound impact this label had on their lives and acknowledges the lingering bitterness it left among them. Even Demi Moore shares similar sentiments as they reflect on their shared Brat Pack fame.

Director McCarthy explains his approach, stating, “I went to each of them and said, ‘Hey, will you talk to me about this? Because we were members of a club that we didn’t ask to join no one else was. We’re the only ones that know what it was like.’” ‘Brats’ is set to premiere on 13th June exclusively on Hulu, offering audiences an intimate glimpse into the lives and experiences of these iconic ’80s stars.
