Anne Hathaway Celebrates 20th Anniversary of ‘Princess Diaries 2’ With Special Kelly Clarkson Tribute

Anne Hathaway recently commemorated the milestone of ‘The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement’ with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, celebrating the film’s enduring legacy. In her post, Hathaway highlighted Kelly Clarkson’s 2004 hit ‘Breakaway’, which features prominently on the movie’s soundtrack and stands out as a defining track from the film.

The actress shared a collection of nostalgic images from the movie, showcasing her moments with co-stars Chris Pine, Callum Blue, Julie Andrews, and director Garry Marshall. Among these memories was a clip from Clarkson’s music video for ‘Breakaway’, which includes footage of her attending the film’s premiere.

“Happy 20th anniversary to #PrincessDiaries2 and @kellyclarkson’s Breakaway!” Hathaway wrote in her caption, honouring both the film and Clarkson’s contribution. ‘The Princess Diaries’ series played a significant role in launching Hathaway’s Hollywood career, with her portrayal of Mia Thermopolis, who discovers her royal heritage and faces the challenge of finding a suitable husband to secure her place on the throne in the sequel.

In a separate reflection, Chris Pine reminisced about his experience with Princess Diaries 2 during an appearance, where he disclosed that he was paid $65,000 for his role.

This sum, he noted, felt like a substantial reward at the time, significantly impacting his early career. Pine also shared that despite the payment eventually translating to about $15,000, the opportunity marked a transformative moment in his life.

Hathaway also addressed the possibility of another sequel in a recent interview with V Magazine, hinting that while there are no new announcements, the discussions are promising. “We’re in a good place. That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place,” she noted, keeping the door open for future developments.
