Anne Hathaway Shares Journey of Portraying ‘A Woman Blooming’ in ‘The Idea of You’ 

Though she isn’t secretly in love with a boy band member, Anne Hathaway feels a strong bond with her character in ‘The Idea of You.’

Hathaway told PEOPLE at the SXSW premiere of the much-anticipated movie based on Robinne Lee’s book how she and Soléne, her character, both embrace the idea of being “adventurous” in love. She said, “At the beginning of the film… she’s hesitant to embark on that journey due to her rocky past with her ex-husband.”

When asked why the movie spoke to her, she explained. Therefore, I found it very moving to see the journey of a woman coming of age.

In ‘The Idea of You,’ a divorcee named Soléne falls in love with a boy band star almost two decades her junior named Hayes (Nicholas Galitzine). Hathaway called the event “exciting” and stressed the value of sharing tales of individual development with people of all ages. “Why don’t we have more stories about people thriving at any stage of life?” she said. We’re always changing.”

Hathaway, 29-year-old Galitzine, and other cast members participated in a Q&A session after the SXSW screening. Feeling touched, Hathaway thanked the audience, saying, “We appreciate your response so much because it resonates with every little detail. I will never forget this moment.”

She underlined that the film’s capacity to depict continuous personal development would appeal to viewers of all ages. During the filming, Hathaway disclosed a special bond with Galitzine, particularly during the difficult romantic scenes.

With 125 million views globally, the ‘The Idea of You’ trailer became the most watched trailer for an original streaming film, attracting a lot of attention. On 2nd May, the movie will debut on Prime Video.
