Austin Butler to Star in Sony’s New Crime Thriller, ‘Caught Stealing’

‘Caught Stealing,’ based on the gripping novels by Charlie Huston, will delve into the gritty tale of Hank Thompson, a disillusioned former baseball player thrust into a perilous fight for survival amidst the dark criminal underworld of 1990s New York City.

Sanford Panitch, president of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Darren is one of the most brilliant visual storytellers in the world and adapting these fantastic books by Charlie Huston for Austin to star in was an opportunity too exciting to miss.”

Austin Butler, known for his acclaimed performance in Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Elvis,’ continues to impress audiences with his versatility and skill. Currently appearing in Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part 2’ and Apple TV’s miniseries ‘Masters of Air,’ Butler’s star is on the rise.

The script for ‘Caught Stealing’ will be penned by Charlie Huston himself, ensuring an authentic adaptation of his acclaimed book. The movie will be produced by Protozoa, with Aronofsky represented by CAA, Narrative and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
