BABYMONSTER Discusses Comparisons to BLACKPINK

BABYMONSTER, the newest addition to YG Entertainment's roster, has recently opened up about their debut journey, shedding light on their preparation process, aspirations, and thoughts on industry comparisons. 

The group is often likened to industry giants like BLACKPINK and fellow 5th-generation group ILLIT, shared their unique perspectives in a recent interview, offering fans valuable insights into their experiences in the competitive K-pop scene.

Addressing the comparisons to BLACKPINK, Rora, one of the members, expressed gratitude for being referred to as BLACKPINK's sister group." She highlighted the meaningful experience of training alongside BLACKPINK seniors and acknowledged the attention their association brings. Rora's comments reflect the group's respect for their predecessors while embracing their own identity within the industry.

Regarding their debut track 'BATTER UP' and the mixed reactions it received, Rora emphasised the song's significance in expressing their lively and energetic side. Despite some criticism, she conveyed confidence in their performance and readiness to showcase different facets of their artistry in future releases, understanding that musical tastes vary among listeners.

When asked about the potential rivalry with HYBE's latest girl group, ILLIT, Ahyeon, another member of BABYMONSTER, emphasised the importance of self-development over competition. She stressed the need for mutual support among groups and a focus on creating a positive image rather than engaging in rivalry.

Furthermore, the members shared their aspirations, with Rora expressing a desire to perform at prestigious international events like Coachella, highlighting their global ambitions. Ahyeon expressed dreams of leaving a lasting impact through unforgettable performances at prestigious award ceremonies, while Asa expressed enthusiasm for world tours and holding concerts, showcasing their ambitions for the future.
