'Badland Hunters' Becomes Netflix's Top Non-English Film of the Week

Netflix's freshest Korean creation, ‘Badland Hunters,’ is now claiming the coveted title of the week's most-watched non-English film on the streaming platform. In the latest weekly roundup released by Netflix, covering the period from 22nd to 28th January, this post-apocalyptic action series has garnered an impressive 14.3 million views.

The film has not only secured a spot in the Top 10 in 82 countries worldwide but has also achieved the remarkable feat of being the second-most-watched film across all languages on Netflix for the week. It comes in just behind the Kevin Hart comedy, ‘Lift.’ ‘Badland Hunters’ is maintaining its reign for the third consecutive week as the top Netflix film since its debut on 12th January.

Switching gears to the TV realm, the K-drama sensation, ‘The Bequeathed,’ has just claimed the throne as Netflix's most-watched non-English TV series of the week. This limited-run series has notched up an impressive 3.1 million views, securing its place as the fourth most-watched TV show across all languages on the streaming giant.

Leading the pack in the Top 3 is the freshly released ‘Griselda’ with a staggering 20.6 million views, featuring Sofia Vergara, followed by ‘American Nightmare’ at 13 million views and ‘Fool Me Once’ at 7.6 million views.

Diving into reviews, critics give a mixed three-star rating to ‘Griselda,’ acknowledging Sofia Vergara's "natural matriarchal charms" but lamenting a "rather stale script." On the flip side, other critiques ‘The Bequeathed’ with a three-star review, noting its "interesting, spooky premise" but expressing disappointment in its execution with "muddy and convoluted storytelling."

On a different note, NME's Hidzir Junaini delivers a muted three-star review for ‘Badland Hunters,’ saying that the film offers little beyond "glorious and gratuitous close-quarter fights" and highlighting its "painfully cliched" moments that might prompt a few eye rolls.
