Two tracks from the soundtrack of the film ‘Barbie’ have earned nominations for the prestigious Oscars, marking a notable presence in the diverse array of songs and musical compositions recognized for the 96th annual Academy Awards.
The nominated songs, ‘What Was I Made For?’ penned by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, and ‘I’m Just Ken’ crafted by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, were carefully selected by the 390 members of the Academy music branch. While three songs from ‘Barbie’ were initially shortlisted, including Dua Lipa’s ‘Dance the Night’, only two could secure nominations by Academy regulations.
The songs from the movie ‘Barbie’ have swiftly emerged as frontrunners in their respective categories, boasting an impressive pedigree that could potentially lead to Oscar glory.
Should either of these compositions clinch the coveted award, it would mark a triumphant return to the Oscars stage for the respective pairs of songwriters, both of whom have previously tasted the sweetness of victory.
Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, the creative siblings behind ‘What Was I Made For?’ have already secured an Oscar win for their work on the James Bond film ‘No Time to Die.’
Similarly, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, the talented duo responsible for ‘I’m Just Ken,’ were among the quartet of winners for Lady Gaga’s acclaimed song ‘Shallow’ from the movie ‘A Star Is Born.’ This track record of success positions them as formidable contenders in the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony.
