Bebe Rexha Claims She Was ‘Threatened’ and Banned From Flight in Germany After Speaking Albanian
Bebe Rexha is alleging that she experienced a “hate crime” while at Munich Airport. The 34-year-old singer shared a tearful message on her Instagram Stories claiming she was “threatened” and barred from a Lufthansa flight after speaking in Albanian to a security agent.
In the video posted, Rexha is seen crying at the airport, explaining that the flight supervisor threatened her after she communicated with the security agent in Albanian, asking for directions to her ticket.
In a follow-up post, Rexha described the incident as a hate crime, asserting that the employee refused to provide his name and subjected her to verbal abuse. She also noted that no Lufthansa staff intervened, though she later discovered the agent worked for ATSG, a service company hired by Lufthansa.

Lufthansa responded with a statement, saying they had contacted Rexha to understand the situation and were conducting an internal review. They emphasized their commitment to diversity and non-discriminatory behaviour.
Attempts by PEOPLE to get comments from Munich Airport and ATSG were unsuccessful. Rexha, who is of Albanian-North Macedonian descent, was supported by her mother, Bukurije Rexha, who also called for action on Instagram, condemning the incident as discriminatory and suggesting it might require legal action.

In her latest Instagram update, Rexha expressed feeling “emotionally drained” and demanded a thorough investigation, stating that a mere apology would not suffice.
