Bella Ramsey Looks Perfect on The Set of ‘The Last of Us’ 2

New photos from the British Columbia set of HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 have surfaced, revealing Bella Ramsey looking strikingly similar to Ellie from ‘The Last of Us Part 2’ video game.

The images, shared on Twitter, show Ramsey alongside newcomer Isabela Merced, who plays Ellie’s love interest, Dina. The two are seen walking through a forest, with noticeable similarities to their in-game counterparts. Dina’s red shirt and Ellie’s green jacket are faithful to the video game’s portrayal.

However, there are some differences, particularly with the hairstyles. Ramsey’s hair is styled in a half-up-half-down look, a departure from their loose ponytail in Season 1. This change, while welcome, still contrasts with the shorter, curtain-bang hairstyle seen in the games. Dina’s hair is also different, worn down in the images instead of the game’s consistent updo.

Fans have been vocal about these changes online. One remarked, “If they don’t cut Bella’s hair… crimes will be committed. Also, why does Dina have a blowout,” while another commented, “Ellie looks the exact same as she did in S1 and that’s a problem.”

Season 2 is expected to follow the plot of ‘The Last of Us Part 2,’ which includes a five-year time jump from the first part. This means Ramsey will need to look significantly older than they did in Season 1, which aired in 2023. This ageing process, along with the new hairstyles, seems to be a sticking point for fans.

At a recent press conference attended by Total Film, co-creator Craig Mazin addressed these concerns. “We know what we’re going to do in terms of costume, makeup, and hair, but more importantly, we also know the soul and spirit of the actor,” he stated. Mazin also confirmed that while they are adapting ‘Part 2,’ some details will be “radically” different from the game.

Returning for Season 2 is Pedro Pascal as Joel, joined by new cast members Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, and Spencer Lord as Owen.
