Ben Affleck on Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Bananas’ Fame and Shielding Their Kids From The Spotlight

Ben Affleck recently shared that he prefers being behind the camera due to his shy nature. In the season 4 premiere of Kevin Hart’s ‘Hart to Heart,’ Affleck, 51, discussed his life in the public eye and how differently people react to him and his wife, Jennifer Lopez, in public. 

Hart, 44, asked Affleck if he enjoyed working more behind or in front of the camera. Affleck responded that he identifies as a director and admitted to being “a little bit shy. I also don’t like a lot of attention,” he added. “That’s why people see me and think, ‘This dude always looks mad,’ because someone is always sticking a camera in my face.”

While Affleck is indifferent to photos being taken of him at public events, he is protective of his children. He shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner and is also a stepdad to Lopez’s twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Affleck elaborated on the differing fan reactions he and Lopez received. “People love her and she represents something important to them,” he said. “When we’re out together, it’s like, ‘AHHHH! J-LO!’ It’s amazing.”

He recounted a family outing in Times Square where Lopez was swarmed by fans. “We got out of the car to go to a play, and it was chaos,” he said. “There was a lady filming her while shouting ‘J-LO!’ and everyone started moving towards us. It was bananas.”

Despite the fan frenzy, Affleck maintains a calm demeanour in such situations. He jokingly referred to it as putting on his “b*tch face.” The episode’s taping date is unknown, but it comes amid reports of strain in Affleck and Lopez’s marriage, with Lopez recently vacationing in Italy without him and their Beverly Hills mansion up for sale. They were last seen together at Samuel’s graduation in early June.
