Bethany Joy Lenz Unveils Memoir Cover and Exposes Decade-Long Journey in a Cult

Bethany Joy Lenz has unveiled the cover of her upcoming memoir, marking the first time she publicly identifies the "abusive, high-demand group (referred to as a cult)" where she spent a decade. In her forthcoming book, ‘Dinner for Vampires,’ the actress, singer-songwriter and former 'One Tree Hill' star will share the details of her life, including her time in the cult and the associated "spiritual abuse."

The book's description reveals Lenz's childhood desire for belonging, leading her to a seemingly safe Bible study group with industry peers. However, this group gradually transformed into something more sinister—a manipulative and abusive environment named 'The Big House Family' under the guise of a church covenant.

Delving deeper, Lenz moved to the Family's Pacific Northwest compound, where she was coerced into marrying one of the minister's sons, resulting in financial loss and loss of autonomy. While the writing process has been smooth for Lenz, confronting and exploring the memories has been a challenging aspect.

Lenz emphasizes the varied paths to recovery after experiencing trauma and highlights the need to reevaluate personal understanding and experiences. Besides working on her memoir, the artist has been immersed in creating new music since her move to Nashville.

Known for her role as Haley James Scott on ‘One Tree Hill’, Lenz is also involved in the Drama Queens podcast with former co-stars Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, reflecting on their shared experiences. Initially apprehensive, Lenz found value in opening up through the podcast, viewing challenging experiences as opportunities for shared understanding and healing.

‘Dinner for Vampires’ is set to release on 22nd October 2024, published by Simon & Schuster and is currently available for preorder at various book retailers.
