Billie Eilish made a striking red carpet appearance at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards, showcasing her unique style by embracing the crew socks and loafers trend. The 22-year-old singer, accompanied by her brother Finneas O’Connell, sported a black, red, and gold headscarf that complemented her two-toned black and red hair, along with yellow-lensed shades.

Eilish’s outfit featured a long-sleeved white button-down top paired with a black tie and coordinating black bottoms. The siblings received the Chairman’s Award for their involvement in ‘Barbie’, collaborating on the hit ‘What Was I Made for,’ which is featured in the film. The movie has already secured nine Golden Globes nominations, including recognition for Eilish and O’Connell’s single.

During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Billie Eilish shared insights into the creation of the cinematic ballad that has earned five nominations at the upcoming 2024 Grammy Awards.

The genesis of the song, titled ‘What Was I Made For?’ for the Barbie movie, was described by Eilish as quite spontaneous. Finneas approached her with the idea, leading to a friendly and casual phone call with ‘Barbie’ director Greta Gerwig and Mark Ronson. Eilish initially felt perplexed but later appreciated the resonation the song had with audiences. She emphasized how it brought women together and created a sense of shared experience.

Reflecting on the success of the song, Eilish expressed satisfaction with the positive impact it had, stating, “It felt like we were all experiencing the life experience, you know?”

Despite the ongoing success of ‘What Was I Made For?’, Eilish is already immersed in her next venture—the creation of her third album. While teasing about the upcoming project, she hinted that more details would be revealed when the time is right.
