Billie Eilish’s Oscars Speech Acknowledged by Former Choir Teacher

At the 2024 Oscars, Billie Eilish genuinely brought her former choir teacher joy! Billie took the opportunity to thank her former teacher, Ms Brigham, for believing in her from the beginning when she and her brother Finneas won the ‘Barbie’ Best Original Song award for ‘What Was I Made For?’ Even though Billie wasn’t a fan then, she recognized Ms. T’s aptitude as an instructor.

Mandy Brigham, Billie’s influential teacher at the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, expressed her gratitude and surprise at being mentioned in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

She thought it was the greatest compliment she could have received from a former student, as she had never expected such recognition. THR was unable to find “Ms T” for comment, so her identity is still unknown.

In addition to thanking Barbie director Greta Gerwig, Billie discussed the film’s emotional resonance in her acceptance speech. Before this, Billie and Finneas had acknowledged their lifelong passion for movies and music in their statement of honour and gratitude for their Academy Award nomination.

They expressed gratitude to Warner Bros. Pictures, Lucky Chap Entertainment, Gerwig, Noah Baumbach, and the ‘Barbie’ cast and crew for their contributions to the movie.

The audience was moved to tears by Billie Eilish’s performance of ‘What Was I Made For?’ at the 2024 Oscars. Emotions were running high in the auditorium as she sang the moving lyrics, “I don’t know how to feel.” A spontaneous standing ovation broke out in the crowd as soon as the 22-year-old singer—who was performing the well-known ‘Barbie’ track with her brother Finneas and the live orchestra—finished.

Numerous celebrities were present, including ‘Barbie’ director Greta Gerwig, famous performer Ariana Grande, and cast members America Ferrera and Kate McKinnon, among others, were moved by the performance.
