Billy Ray Cyrus Files For Divorce From Firerose After Less Than a Year of Marriage
Billy Ray Cyrus has filed for divorce from singer Firerose, less than a year after their marriage. The 62-year-old ‘I’m So Miserable’ singer quietly submitted the divorce paperwork in late May, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct, according to court documents obtained. Cyrus is also seeking an annulment on grounds of fraud.
The Australian musician and Cyrus were married in October 2023 after growing close while working on several musical projects together. The two had been friends for years before their relationship turned romantic during the COVID-19 pandemic. They started dating in 2022 and got engaged later that year, marrying in the following year.

“10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony,” the newlyweds shared in a joint Instagram post at the time. “It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined.”
Together, the pair released four collaborative songs: ‘New Day,’ ‘Time,’ ‘Plans’ and ‘After the Storm.’ They even performed one of their songs on ‘Good Morning America’ in August last year and spoke about their relationship. Cyrus compared their partnership to peanut butter and jelly, while Firerose expressed her gratitude for living her dreams every day with the love of her life.
Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, posted pictures with Cyrus as recently as late April to mark six months of their marriage. “6 months ago, I married this man. Life isn’t always easy, but it sure helps when your husband’s also your best friend. Thank you, Lord!” she wrote on Instagram, sharing snaps from their wedding day. Cyrus also celebrated Firerose in April, telling his fans he had “so much to be grateful for.”
However, the pair no longer follow each other on social media. This was Cyrus’s third marriage. He was previously married to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991 and to Tish Cyrus from 1993 to 2022.
