The much-anticipated Marvel film, 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' has continued to captivate audiences well beyond its release, thanks to its unexpected cameos. The film features a star-studded lineup, including Chris Evans reprising his role as Human Torch and Wesley Snipes as Blade. However, the cameo that truly caught viewers' attention was Blake Lively's portrayal of Lady Deadpool, an alternate universe version of the iconic character.
Many fans speculated that Lively's casting was influenced by her husband, Ryan Reynolds, who famously plays Deadpool. However, it was revealed that the character of Lady Deadpool was inspired by Lively's role as Serena in 'Gossip Girl.'

Rob Liefeld, the creator of Lady Deadpool, disclosed this interesting backstory in a recent Instagram post. Liefeld shared that he had been a fan of 'Gossip Girl' and was particularly fond of Lively's character. This led him to model Lady Deadpool after Serena when Marvel approached him to introduce a female Deadpool in 2009.
Liefeld's post revealed more about the creation process, noting that he had given Lady Deadpool her signature blonde hair in homage to Lively. He humorously recalled his reaction when he realised that Blake Lively was unaware of her influence on the character, which had remained a secret for over a decade.

Blake Lively herself only discovered this connection two years ago. Reflecting on her role in 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' Lively expressed her surprise and delight at learning she had unknowingly inspired a comic book character. She reminisced about filming 'Green Lantern' with Reynolds around the same time Liefeld was crafting Lady Deadpool, highlighting the serendipitous nature of her eventual casting in the role.
