Britney Spears’ ‘Criminal’ Soars on Streaming Charts Following Justin Timberlake’s Arrest

Justin Timberlake was arrested after Sag Harbor Police found him “operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition,” according to a statement obtained from sources. In the wake of Timberlake’s arrest, Britney Spears fans rallied on social media, urging others to buy her song ‘Criminal’ from the ‘Femme Fatale’ album. 

The 2011 single has seen a resurgence in popularity following the incident. Timberlake’s arrest occurred in Sag Harbor, New York when he allegedly drove his 2025 BMW through a stop sign and failed to stay in his lane, as noted in the police report.

The officer who stopped Timberlake observed that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, he smelled of alcohol, had slowed speech, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. 

Timberlake reportedly told the authorities, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home,” according to the arrest report. He was taken to Sag Harbor Police Headquarters, processed, and charged with one count of driving while intoxicated, along with citations for running a stop sign and failing to keep in his lane.

The police confirmed that Timberlake was held overnight and arraigned the following morning. He was released on his own recognizance after his court appearance at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court. The singer is scheduled to return to court for a hearing.
