Britney Spears' Iconic Movie 'Crossroads,' Hits Netflix!

Britney Spears fans, get ready for a nostalgic journey! Netflix just announced that they're adding the movie ‘Crossroads,’ where Britney had her first big starring role, to their streaming service starting February 15th.

This is a big deal because, until now, the movie featuring Britney Spears hasn't been available on any streaming platform. Netflix shared the exciting news on social media, saying, "The first-ever movie starring Britney Spears is finally coming to Netflix worldwide on 15th February."

Directed by Tamra Davis, ‘Crossroads’ stars Britney Spears, Zoe Saldaña, and Taryn Manning in their early 20s. The screenplay, written by Shonda Rhimes, follows the story of high school graduates Lucy (played by Spears), Kit (Saldaña), and Mimi (Manning) as they rekindle their childhood friendship and embark on a cross-country road trip after graduation.

The official synopsis of the movie explains that with almost no plan, very little money, but lots of dreams, the girls join Mimi's friend Ben (played by Anson Mount) in his convertible. Along the way, they not only gather experiences that will change their lives but also discover the importance of holding onto their heart's desires. It's a feel-good journey you won't want to miss!

In the movie ‘Crossroads,’ Kim Cattrall and Dan Aykroyd played Britney Spears' parents, with Jamie Lynn Spears portraying a younger version of Britney's character Lucy. Justin Long also had a role as one of their classmates.

Now 42, Britney Spears reflected on her experience filming the movie in her 2023 memoir, ‘The Woman in Me.’ In an excerpt shared in October, she revealed that the filming wasn't easy for her. She unintentionally started Method acting, fully immersing herself in her character without knowing how to break out of it.

In the book, she explained that she became a different person during the filming, altering her walk, posture, and speech. Even now, she believes that her co-stars from "Crossroads" might think of her as a bit quirky due to that experience.

Spears referred to ‘Crossroads’ as "pretty much the beginning and end of my acting career" in her book. Since then, she has rarely taken on onscreen roles outside of music videos, except for playing herself on the TV series ‘Jane the Virgin’ and appearing in the 2019 movie ‘Corporate Animals.’

Interestingly, ‘Crossroads’ made a return to movie theatres in October for a brief two-night run, coinciding with the release of Britney Spears' memoir.
