This Father’s Day, fans in New York City paid tribute to one of film and television’s most adored father figures, Pedro Pascal, with a playful celebration in the Lower East Side.
A look-alike contest was organised outside Son Del North, a local Mexican restaurant, where nearly 30 participants turned up—despite the rain—hoping to be recognised as the most convincing Pascal double. The winner was Pedro #5, also known as George Gountas, a Brooklyn-based father and lighting designer for The Daily Show.
According to the New York Post, Gountas hadn’t planned to participate until his wife, Jenny Gania, encouraged him to do so as a Father’s Day treat. She recalled that the comparisons to Pascal began when ‘Game of Thrones’ first aired, and noted that even children had started pointing it out. She said it felt like the perfect occasion to celebrate the resemblance—even more so since her husband avoids social media altogether.

Pedro Pascal Look-Alike Contest Doubles as Food Clapback
Gountas walked away with a $50 prize and a year’s worth of burritos, courtesy of Son Del North. The restaurant’s chef and co-owner, Annisha Garcia, shared that the idea for the contest stemmed from Pascal’s 2023 remark claiming there was no good Mexican food in New York. Garcia said they wanted to prove otherwise, insisting their restaurant’s presence was evidence to the contrary.
This lighthearted tribute followed a similar event in October, when Timothée Chalamet surprised fans at his own look-alike contest held in Madison Square Park.
