Calvin Harris Responds to Criticism at Festival

Calvin Harris, a prominent figure in the electronic dance music (EDM) scene, recently headlined the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. However, his performance received mixed reviews from festival attendees, with some expressing disappointment and labelling it as “underwhelming.” This criticism didn’t go unnoticed by Harris, who took to social media to respond to the feedback.

In a post by the electronic music publication Dancing Astronaut showcasing footage from his set, including a compilation of songs he performed on the main stage, Harris engaged with comments from fans. One comment, in particular, described his set as lacking excitement, prompting Harris to defend his song choices and the effort he put into the performance.

Harris explained that he had meticulously curated his setlist, which featured 19 songs including his popular collaborations with artists like Rihanna, Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith, along with his solo hits like ‘Feel So Close’.  

He emphasised that he had spent months creating new versions of his tracks specifically for the festival, showcasing his dedication to delivering a unique and engaging experience for the audience.

The EDM superstar’s response shed light on the extensive preparation and creativity that goes into crafting a festival set. Despite the criticism, Harris’s setlist reflected his versatility as an artist, blending chart-topping hits with his signature sound and demonstrating his ability to captivate a diverse audience.

Harris’s performance at the Ultra Music Festival was part of a broader lineup of electronic music heavyweights, including David Guetta, Martin Garrix, and Tiësto.
