Céline Dion tearfully introduced the upcoming documentary centred on her life at the New York City premiere of ‘I Am: Céline Dion’, a Prime Video feature exploring her illustrious career and her battle with stiff-person syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder. As she took the stage, the legendary performer received thunderous applause from the audience.
During her speech, Dion expressed gratitude to her physician, Dr. Amanda Piquet, and the documentary’s filmmaker, Irene Taylor Brodsky. She remarked on how it was the largest crowd she had addressed in years. She went on to thank her three sons, René-Charles, 23, and 13-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy, for their unwavering support.

“Of course, I wouldn’t be here without the daily love and support from my wonderful children,” she said. “Thank you, René-Charles. Thank you, Nelson. Thank you, Eddy. Thank you very much.” The applause continued as she acknowledged the constant support from her fans. “Your presence in my journey has been a gift beyond measure,” she added.
Sharing a humorous anecdote, Dion recounted how she compared herself to an apple while coming to terms with her condition. She explained that despite not always being able to offer her best, her fans remained supportive, valuing the truth of her journey over perfection.
Overcome with emotion, Dion was joined on stage by her son René-Charles, who handed her a tissue. She concluded by thanking everyone for being part of her journey and described the documentary as her love letter to them. The heartfelt speech was met with a standing ovation.
Following the screening, Dion and Brodsky waved to the audience amidst continued applause. For the premiere, Dion dazzled in an all-white ensemble featuring a long skirt, an elegant long-sleeved blouse, a silver belt, matching bracelets, and stud earrings. ‘I Am: Céline Dion’ will be available on Prime Video starting 25th June.
