Chappell Roan Shuns Fame to Avoid Fans With “Stalker Vibes”

Chappell Roan has swiftly risen to fame over the past year. She opened for Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Guts’ tour and delivered standout performances at Coachella and Governors Ball. However, this rapid rise in popularity has brought an unexpected and unsettling side effect: stalker-like behaviour from some fans.

In a chat on the ‘Comment Section’ podcast with Drew Afualo, Roan opened up about her discomfort with the fame she’s achieved. She revealed, “People have started to be freaks — like, [they] follow me and know where my parents live, and where my sister works. All this weird sh*t.” The pop star’s concerns have escalated to the point where she’s seriously considering stepping back from the spotlight to protect her and her family’s safety.

Roan’s apprehension isn’t a sudden revelation. She admitted, “This is the time when a few years ago when I said that if [there were] stalker vibes or my family was in danger, I would quit. And we’re there. We’re there!” The situation has led her to a critical decision: “I’ve pumped the brakes on, honestly, anything to make me more known. It’s kind of a forest fire right now. I’m not trying to go do a bunch of shit.”

Despite the pressures of fame, Roan continues to create music. Her single ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ released in April, climbed to Number Four in the UK charts and even caught the attention of Sabrina Carpenter, who covered the song in the BBC Live Lounge in June.
