Charli XCX Reveals She Doesn’t See Herself Making Music Forever

Charli XCX, the British pop star known for her innovative music, is considering expanding her creative horizons beyond the realm of music. In an interview, the artist shared her thoughts on potentially exploring new avenues in the future.

“I would like to flex my creative muscles in other areas. I don’t envisage myself making music forever,” she revealed. “Maybe I will in some capacity, but I just feel like there are other creative areas I really want to explore.”

One of these areas includes acting, as Charli is set to make her feature film debut in a reimagining of the 1978 cult horror flick ‘Faces of Death’, as reported by The Wrap last spring. The film’s cast includes ‘Euphoria’ alum Barbie Ferreira and ‘Stranger Things’ actor Dacre Montgomery, with production taking place in New Orleans starting in 2023.

Discussing her upcoming role in the film, Charli expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I was a fan of the original movie. I saw that this film was being remade by director Daniel Goldhaber. We met and talked, and he suggested, ‘You should be in it.’ I was like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy’… I really got the bug from that.”

Charli’s revelation about exploring new creative paths comes shortly after the release of her fourth studio album. The album, sporting a simple neon green cover, sparked a trend known as ‘Brat Summer’ among fans.

During an interview, Charli explained the essence of the trend and its meaning. She reflected on the album’s influence, including its deluxe edition released soon after, and its impact on her solo shows in cities like New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and São Paulo. Looking ahead, Charli is slated to join Troye Sivan on a co-headlining tour titled “Charli XCX & Troye Sivan present: Sweat” starting this fall.
