Cinderella's infamous stepsisters are finally stepping into the spotlight. Disney is officially developing a live-action film centred on Anastasia and Drizella, the duo who made life difficult for Cinderella in the 1950 animated classic.
The project will be directed by Akiva Schaffer, known for his work on 'The Naked Gun' and 'Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers.' He is reuniting with screenwriters Dan Gregor and Doug Mand to bring the story to life, building on an original script by Michael Montemayor. While fans remember the sisters for their attempts to ruin Cinderella's chances with the Prince, this new film offers a fresh perspective on the iconic villains.

Cinderella's Stepsisters Appearances
This isn't the first time the characters have appeared in live-action. In Disney's 2015 remake, Sophie McShera and Holliday Grainger took on the roles alongside Lily James and Cate Blanchett. As of now, Disney has not announced who will star in this new version, and casting details remain under wraps.
Director Akiva Schaffer brings a unique comedic background to the project. As a member of the comedy trio The Lonely Island, he's the mind behind hits like 'Hot Rod' and 'Popstar.' This film marks his next big directorial move following his successful reboot of 'The Naked Gun' starring Liam Neeson.
The stepsister spinoff joins a growing list of Disney's live-action reimaginings. The studio is staying busy with several high-profile projects, including a 'Tangled' adaptation starring Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim, and a live-action 'Moana' featuring Dwayne Johnson.

Disney's upcoming schedule is packed with familiar stories. In addition to the stepsisters' movie, the studio is working on several other projects, including new versions of 'Lilo & Stitch' and 'Snow White.' Fans can also look forward to a film that shifts the focus to Gaston, the famous villain from 'Beauty and the Beast.'
Beyond the world of Disney, Schaffer is also busy producing a new Netflix movie called 'Protecting Jared', which stars Andy Samberg and Jason Momoa.
