Dakota Johnson Opens Up About Her “Worst Time” on ‘The Office’ Finale

Dakota Johnson isn’t holding back regarding her experience on the set of ‘The Office’ finale. The 34-year-old ‘Madame Web’ star spilled the beans on Late Night with Seth Meyers, revealing that her appearance in the series’ concluding episode wasn’t exactly a walk in the park.

Dakota Johnson shared, “That was honestly the worst time of my life. I love that show so much, and they were like, ‘Do you want to be in the series finale?’ and I was like, ‘Of course,’ thinking that I’d show up for half a day. I was there for two weeks, and I’m barely in the f—ing show.”

As host Seth Meyers inquired about the cast’s mood during the final moments on set, Johnson unveiled some behind-the-scenes drama, saying, “They were sad, and also, like, there were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years.”

Describing the awkward situation, she added, “Some people didn’t speak to each other. And I’m coming in like, ‘So excited to be here!’ No one wanted to talk to me. No one gave a f—. I was, like, in the background of all of these scenes, faxing things.”

In a humorous twist, Meyers playfully commended her background acting skills, stating, “Can I tell you I recently watched it, and it was some of the most believable faxing I’ve ever seen, and a lot of people, I think, mail it in when they’re in the background of those shows.”

In the final episode, Johnson portrayed an accountant hired by Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) to replace Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) after his dismissal. ‘The Office’, spanning nine seasons from 2005 to 2013, featured a star-studded cast, including Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak and Ed Helms.

Reflecting on her appearance in 2021, Dakota Johnson shared that it was initially intended to introduce a potential spinoff, which never materialized. She expressed, “If everything else just falls away, maybe you’ll find me in that ‘Office’ spinoff that no one wants to watch.”

“I don’t know in what world that would’ve worked for me creatively. I have found that when something is successful, even when there’s nothing left, they keep trying to wring out the towel of the story. Sometimes things need to end when they’re supposed to end.”
