Dakota Johnson Opens Up About the ‘Absolutely Psychotic’ Experience on ‘Madame Web’

Dakota Johnson shared that the experience of filming ‘Madame Web’, which involves a lot of CGI effects, was “absolutely psychotic.” The movie is promoted as the fourth instalment in the Sony Spider-Man Universe, with the first trailer released in November. 

Based on the Marvel Comics character, ‘Madame Web’ also features Sydney Sweeney from ‘The White Lotus’, along with Emma Roberts and Adam Scott. The film is set to be released in cinemas on 14th February.

In a recent interview, Johnson, known for her role as Anastasia Steele in the ‘Fifty Shades’ film series, discussed the challenges of acting in a production with extensive special effects. She mentioned the difficulties of performing on a blue screen with fake explosions and described the experience as “absolutely psychotic.”

Despite her initial concerns, Johnson expressed trust in director SJ Clarkson, emphasizing Clarkson’s dedication to the movie throughout the filming process.

Directed by SJ Clarkson and written by Jessica Jones writer Claire Parker, ‘Madame Web’ focuses on Cassandra Webb, played by Dakota Johnson, who works as a paramedic in New York City. After discovering her ability to foresee the future, Cassandra seeks assistance from a group of young women, including Julia Carpenter, portrayed by Sydney Sweeney, who later becomes Spider-Woman in the well-known comics.

In the same interview, Dakota Johnson revealed her initial hesitations about taking on the role. She expressed uncertainty about being a superhero but was intrigued by the character’s mental powers, stating, “I would love to see a young woman whose superpower is her mind.”

In a 2022 interview about working with Johnson, Sydney Sweeney admitted feeling a bit nervous. She confessed to being a big fan of Johnson since sneaking into a screening of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ in high school, despite her parents’ restrictions. Sweeney added, “She’s so hot.”
