The proposer extraordinaire, Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes, a 32-year-old maestro of songwriting, originally crossed paths with Lovato back in January 2022 during the collaborative creation of the hit single ‘Substance.’ On this auspicious occasion, Lutes presented a bespoke pear-shaped diamond solitaire engagement ring, courtesy of the prestigious N.Y.C. luxury jewelry haven, Material Good.

Following a proposal that can only be described as “personal and intimate,” the happy couple, with Lovato embracing she/they pronouns, sauntered over to Craig’s, a cherished culinary haunt in L.A., to revel in the joyous occasion with their families. This celebration echoes the sentiments shared by Lutes on Lovato’s 31st birthday in August when he posted a delightful carousel of selfies and whimsical videos, showering love and admiration on his now-fiancée.

“Happy birthday to my best friend. You’re obviously the most beautiful and talented person to ever do it,” he eloquently captioned the post. “But more importantly, you’re weird af and u make me cry laughing.” Adding to their creative synergy, Lutes also contributed his writing prowess to Lovato’s tracks “Happy Ending” and “City of Angels,” both featured in Lovato’s eighth album, ‘Holy Fvck.’

In a recent interview with CBS Mornings, Lovato expressed their contentment, stating, “I definitely am in a really good place. I don’t know what I’m going to write about on my next album because I’m so happy. It is a really good feeling … definitely a bunch of sappy love songs — for sure.”

Reflecting on the genesis of their romance, Lovato shared with SiriusXM’s ‘The Morning Mash Up’ in July, “We became friends first. We were friends for several months, and then we decided to start dating and well, after we told each other how we felt.”

Celebrating Lutes’ birthday in March, Lovato affectionately referred to the indie rocker as her “sweet angel” in a heartfelt social media post, declaring, “I’ve waited my whole life to find you, and I can’t wait to celebrate so many more birthdays together… you’re a literal dream come true, and I’m so grateful to call you mine.” Love, it seems, is not just in the air but woven into the very fabric of their story.
