‘Devil Wears Prada’ Sequel in Development With Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt

There’s a sequel to the iconic 2006 film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ in the pipeline. According to a report by Puck, the follow-up to the beloved comedy-drama is moving forward, with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt set to return as the formidable Miranda Priestly and the loyal Emily Charlton, respectively. However, Anne Hathaway, who played the endearing protagonist Andy Sachs, won’t be making a comeback.

In this new instalment, Priestly and Charlton will reportedly navigate the challenging and ever-evolving landscape of the magazine publishing industry. Given the massive shifts in the media world since the original film, it will be fascinating to see how their characters adapt and thrive in an era dominated by digital content.

Hathaway’s potential absence isn’t entirely unexpected. Earlier this year, she expressed her reservations about a sequel. In an interview with V Magazine, she mentioned, “We all love each other and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we’d all be crazy not to. But there’s a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is it was about producing a physical object.”

She added, “Now with so much being digital, it would just be very different. Maybe me, Stanley, Emily, Meryl, Dave Frankel, Patricia Field… we should just all do something else together. That’d be fun.”

While Hathaway’s departure is a bit of a letdown, the return of Streep and Blunt is enough to get fans excited. Meryl Streep’s portrayal of the icy and commanding Miranda Priestly is iconic, and Emily Blunt’s performance as the snarky yet endearing Emily Charlton is unforgettable. The dynamic between these characters was a significant part of what made the original film so special.

The original ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, was a critical and commercial success. It gave audiences a sharp, humorous look into the cutthroat fashion industry, filled with memorable quotes and stylish outfits.

Though details about the plot and release date are still under wraps, the anticipation is building. Fans of the original film can look forward to seeing Miranda Priestly’s impeccable style and no-nonsense attitude back on screen, with Emily Charlton by her side, navigating the ever-changing world of fashion and media.
