The producer of Ryan Gosling’s latest action comedy, ‘The Fall Guy,’ shares the story behind Taylor Swift’s song ‘All Too Well’ appearing in the film. Directed by David Leitch, the movie follows a stuntman, played by Gosling, who becomes entangled in a conspiracy tied to his ex-girlfriend’s directorial debut, portrayed by Emily Blunt.

In a pivotal scene, Gosling’s character, Colt Seavers, is seen emotionally listening to ‘All Too Well’ in his car after a challenging day of filming. This unexpected use of the song prompted praise from a major Swiftie during a test screening, describing it as the perfect emotional and humorous cue.

Producer Emily McCormick revealed that ‘All Too Well’ wasn’t initially written into the script but was later suggested by Gosling himself. Despite initial resistance from Leitch, Gosling’s idea gained traction after witnessing Swift’s performance of the extended version of the song during her ‘Eras’ tour in Las Vegas.

Securing Swift’s approval for the song’s use in the film was crucial, considering potential budget concerns. However, Swift was receptive and even attended a test screening without providing any notes on the use of her music.
