Don Omar is Now 'Cancer-Free' With Successful Surgery After Diagnosis

Don Omar has provided fans with an update on his health. The Puerto Rican rapper announced that he is now cancer-free, after revealing his diagnosis the day before.

"I woke up today cancer-free and grateful," wrote Don Omar, 46, on Instagram in Spanish, alongside a photo of himself making a peace sign. "Thank you for your good wishes, prayers, and thousands of messages. My surgery was a success, and now it's time to recover," added the ‘Dile’ singer.

Don Omar, whose real name is William Omar Landrón Rivera, disclosed his cancer diagnosis on Instagram. “Today yes, but tomorrow I won’t have cancer,” he captioned an image of his hospital wristband from an Orlando medical centre. “Good intentions are well received. See you soon. #f---cancer.”

The news came shortly after he posted an Instagram Reel featuring dancers auditioning for the second leg of his Back to Reggaetón Tour. “The most special thing about today’s auditions is seeing that there are people who want to dare to dream with me,” Don Omar wrote last week. “Thank you to each of you who gave your all on the dance floor! This second stage of the tour comes with everything.”

The second leg of his Back to Reggaeton tour will kick off on 7th August in Oakland, California. The tour began in 2023, marking his comeback with the release of his album ‘Forever King.’ The first leg ran from March to April before he extended it by 18 dates.

In December, Don Omar and Daddy Yankee announced the end of their longtime feud by sharing lengthy statements on social media. “Today we close the book that kept the best chapters of our controversial rivalry,” Don Omar wrote on Instagram about Yankee. “Thank you for your words and for listening to mine that came from the heart as well. I wish you the best for you and your family. Thank you for your competitiveness and admirable discipline but even more thank you for what you did for our music.”

He continued: “Thank you for collaborating and for competing because I did it with a titan. I keep the good memories, the laughs, the dreams together and the desire for a last round with such a great adversary. We will meet again soon because I owe you a hug and thank you in person. In the meantime, long live King Daddy.”
