The show is scheduled to premiere in January 2025, airing on Wednesday evenings right after ‘The Price Is Right at Night’ and ‘Raid the Cage.’ ‘Hollywood Squares’ is a tic-tac-toe style game where two contestants compete for money and prizes. The game board features a grid of cubes, each occupied by a celebrity. Contestants have to decide if the celebrities’ answers to various questions are correct to win the game.
Drew Barrymore, who will regularly occupy the centre square, is also a co-producer of the show through her production company, Flower Films, in collaboration with Jesse Collins Entertainment. Barrymore is a familiar face on CBS, thanks to her daytime talk show, ‘The Drew Barrymore Show.’
‘Hollywood Squares’ has a rich history, having first premiered on NBC in 1966. It saw revivals in 1986 with John Davidson as host and again in 1998 with Tom Bergeron at the helm. During the latter revival, Whoopi Goldberg served as the executive producer and was the regular centre square. The show has featured a plethora of notable regulars over the years, including Vincent Price, Weird Al Yankovic, Joan Rivers, David Letterman, and Ellen DeGeneres.
