Dua Lipa Opens Up About Humbling Experience of Getting Rejected by School Choir

Pop superstar Dua Lipa recently revealed a hilarious anecdote from her childhood, highlighting the path to success isn’t always linear. In a YouTube video promoting her latest album, Lipa recounted her experience auditioning for her school choir.

The story goes that a young Lipa, brimming with enthusiasm, volunteered for the audition when her music teacher offered the opportunity. However, things didn’t go quite as planned. “The music teacher started playing on the piano, and it was on this crazy high note,” Lipa shared. “And nothing came out – just air. At that moment, the whole school started laughing.”

While the choir experience might not have gone her way, Lipa’s musical inclinations manifested elsewhere. Growing up in a musical household with a father who was a rock musician, Lipa was exposed to a wide range of musical influences.

After moving to London at the age of 15 to pursue a music career, Lipa honed her skills and began
uploading covers of popular songs to YouTube. This online presence caught the attention of industry professionals, leading to her signing a record deal in 2015. Lipa’s dedication and talent quickly paid off.
