Dua Lipa Says ‘Radical Optimism’ is More “Mature” Than Her Previous Works

Dua Lipa has given fans an inside look into her highly anticipated upcoming album ‘Radical Optimism’, revealing that she has been planning its creation since before her debut record hit the shelves.

In a recent interview with Time Magazine, the ‘Don’t Start Now’ singer delved into the concept behind ‘Radical Optimism’, set to be released on 3rd May (pre-order/pre-save available here). Lipa expressed her belief in the power of manifestation, stating, “Manifesting is a big thing for me. I stand very firmly in the belief of putting things into the world. Subconsciously, you just work towards them. Nothing’s ever too big.”

This belief has been integral to the creation of her upcoming album, a project that has been in her thoughts since her debut self-titled album in 2017.

Reflecting on her journey, Lipa recalled, “I remember when I was working on my first album, I was making notes on what my third album was going to be.” She shared her aspirations of collaborating with artists like Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, envisioning possibilities for growth and evolution in her music career.

Discussing the progression of her sound, Lipa acknowledged the maturity reflected in ‘Radical Optimism’, stating, “The record as a whole is more mature. I’m definitely not the same person I was when I wrote my first album. I’ve evolved and learned so much… taking it as it comes, not seeing anything as bad or something as a setback.”

“I’m just a different person, so of course this record is going to be different,” Lipa affirmed. “I have different thoughts, wants, needs, and perspectives. I’ve done a 180 on myself … I feel the most confident at this point in my life.”

With the recent release of ‘Illusion’ as the album’s third single, Lipa continues to build anticipation for ‘Radical Optimism’, following the success of earlier singles ‘Houdini’ and ‘Training Season.’
