Brickell, shares her side of the story, revealing that she first noticed Simon’s music and captivating persona when she was just 16 years old. A chance encounter with one of Simon’s albums left a lasting impression on her, igniting a fascination that would later blossom into a deep connection.

Their paths crossed officially in 1988 when Brickell’s band, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, performed on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ a show closely associated with Simon due to his long-standing friendship with SNL creator Lorne Michaels.

The moment Brickell laid eyes on Simon during the SNL performance, she experienced a rush of emotions reminiscent of her teenage admiration for his music. Simon’s presence left her awestruck, sparking a renewed interest and a sense of familiarity that transcended time.

Simon, who had previous marriages with Peggy Harper and actress Carrie Fisher, acknowledges the unique bond he shares with Brickell. He admires her curiosity and deep contemplation about life’s mysteries, describing her as someone who embraces the enigma of existence rather than seeking to unravel it completely.
