Eminem has unveiled his 12th studio album, ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ (Coup de Grâce), marking the end of his iconic alter ego. To promote the record, he previously published a fake obituary for Slim Shady in the Detroit Free Press, declaring that "his complex and tortured existence has come to a close."
In a recent interview, Eminem engages in a heated conversation with his younger self, Slim Shady, exploring their mutual influence and impact. During this discussion, Slim Shady namedrops Machine Gun Kelly, Taylor Swift, and others. In an interview with Complex, Slim Shady, who is central to Eminem’s new album, claims responsibility for Eminem’s entire career.

Shady is depicted as being resurrected through a portal from the year 2000 in the ‘Houdini’ music video, asserting he was brought back to rejuvenate Marshall’s career. The interview begins with palpable animosity between the two, a conflict reflected in several tracks from the album that highlight their ongoing struggle between the two personas.
The intense one-on-one conversation between Slim Shady and Eminem is particularly notable as ‘The Death of Slim Shady ‘(Coup de Grâce) is currently the top album in the US. Slim explains his return by criticizing Eminem’s recent work, using a Caitlyn Jenner analogy to illustrate his point. Slim Shady bluntly tells Eminem, "If we’re being honest, the music that you’ve been dropping since I’ve bounced ain’t it, for real. When I heard your last sht, I thought that sht was f**king A.I."

At one point, Slim Shady provocatively claims a scandalous incident involving Machine Gun Kelly and Eminem's mother, stating, "MGK f**ked your mother." This remark refers to the longstanding feud between Eminem and MGK, which began after Kelly’s controversial tweet about Eminem’s daughter.
The rivalry featured diss tracks such as "Not Alike" and "Rap Devil," with Eminem delivering a final rebuttal in "Killshot" in 2018. Despite MGK's shift to a different musical genre, the feud between the two rappers remains unresolved.
