Exploring If The Eternals Will be in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’

The highly anticipated ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is set to introduce a fresh roster of characters, including Sam Wilson, Falcon, Hulk, Black Widow and an array of super spies. This fourth instalment in the ‘Captain America’ series also promises to bring back familiar faces from the Marvel universe, including ex-SHIELD agents and top-notch spies. However, the film’s most intriguing element may be its potential to tie up a significant loose end from Marvel’s ‘Eternals.’

In 2021, Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ left audiences with a dramatic scene where the celestial Tiamut the Communicator emerged from the Indian Ocean, only to be turned into stone by Gemma Chan’s Sersi. Since then, this monumental event has been sparsely mentioned in the MCU, except for a brief reference in the Disney Plus series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.’ ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ will finally delve into this lingering mystery, as hinted in the film’s first teaser trailer.

In the climactic moments of Eternals, the team employed their combined powers through the Uni-Mind to prevent Tiamut’s emergence, saving Earth and its inhabitants. Yet, the colossal statue of Tiamut has largely remained unexplored in subsequent Marvel projects. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ aims to address this oversight.

The new trailer for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ gives fans a tantalising glimpse of Tiamut’s hand. There’s speculation that the U.S. government, under President Thaddeus Ross, may have an interest in the material Tiamut is composed of. The trailer also features Sam Wilson, now donned in his updated blue Captain America costume, flying past the towering statue.

The exact role of Tiamut in the film remains shrouded in mystery. However, fan theories are abuzz with speculation. Some suggest that ‘Brave New World’ will build on themes from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ where a race for Wakanda’s vibranium was a central plot point. It’s possible that Tiamut could introduce another coveted resource to the MCU: adamantium. This rare metal, famously bonded to Wolverine’s skeleton, could mark the MCU debut of the X-Men, especially following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which previously held the rights to adamantium.

Should these theories hold, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ could set the stage for an epic battle over Tiamut’s resources, potentially propelling the MCU into an exciting new era. The film also needs to address the lingering plot threads from Eternals, such as the introduction of Starfox (played by Harry Styles) and Pip the Troll (voiced by Patton Oswalt).

The involvement of these characters, combined with Starfox’s connection to Thanos, demands further exploration to maintain narrative coherence.

Similarly, the fate of Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman, poised to become the Black Knight with the Ebony Blade, remains uncertain. As of April 2024, Harrington has indicated that the character is not currently involved in any upcoming MCU projects, casting doubt on his future within the Multiverse Saga.
