‘Furiosa’ to Receive Black & White Version, Confirms George Miller

George Miller, director of ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, has confirmed that his latest film will also have a black-and-white version. This prequel to 2015’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ delves into the origin story of Furiosa, with Anya Taylor-Joy stepping into the role previously played by Charlize Theron.

While ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ has received largely positive reviews akin to its predecessor, it was initially uncertain if it would get a “Black and Chrome Edition” like ‘Fury Road.’

In a recent interview on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast with Josh Horowitz, Miller revealed that ‘Furiosa’ will indeed have a black-and-white version, which he has tentatively named the ‘Tinted Black and Chrome’ edition. Miller expressed his fascination with the elemental quality of black-and-white visuals, noting that they add a dramatic effect that colour cannot capture.

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is known for its relentless, high-octane car chase spanning several days, with Furiosa as the central character. ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, however, explores a broader narrative, chronicling the character’s life over 15 years and her conflicts with Chris Hemsworth’s Dementus.

This prequel dives deeper into Furiosa’s backstory, shedding light on her transformation into the character seen in ‘Fury Road.’

Despite differing story structures, both films share the same intense action sequences and immersive world-building. Furiosa features numerous vehicle-based set pieces, including the iconic War Rig, showcasing Miller’s expertise in staging action. The ‘Tinted Black & Chrome’ edition of ‘Furiosa’ is expected to be as visually striking and impressive as the black-and-white version of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.
