‘General Hospital’ Star Jeff Kober Shares Unsettling Snooker Encounter

‘General Hospital’ actor Jeff Kober recently shared insights about his connection to snooker, coinciding with the release of his new movie, Break, where he portrays a pool champ and troublemaker. Reflecting on his past, Kober recounted a memorable incident from his youth, where he and his cousin were playing pool in Montana.

“We were around 19 or 20, and this drunk woman at the bar approached us,” Kober recalls. “She came up and felt my muscle, then told my cousin, ‘I’m a witch and you’re gonna lose this game.'”

Kober laughs about the eerie prophecy, noting that the outcome of the game was inconsequential as they were more focused on having fun. His passion for snooker is evident, as he also shared a humbling experience where Hollywood casting director Megan Branman defeated him in pool 17 times in a row. “It was the most humiliating sporting event I’ve ever attended,” he joked.

Break, directed by Will Wernick, centres on Eli (played by Darren Weiss), who gets caught up in the underground snooker scene while caring for his sister and mother. Eli eventually confronts Kober’s character, Jimmy, a notorious troublemaker.

Kober emphasised the collaborative spirit of the set, describing it as the “best kind of set.” He explained that due to the limited budget and tight schedule, everyone was highly focused and working together seamlessly to achieve the film’s precise choreography and overall vision.

In his interview, Kober highlighted the unique bond formed among the cast and crew, contrasting it with other experiences where individuals often focus solely on their own roles. “This project felt like a unified effort, everyone pulling together for one shared experience,” he noted.
