Glen Powell Expresses Concern for His Future in Exclusive Sneak Peek of ‘Hit Man’

Netflix has unveiled a fresh sneak peek from their upcoming romantic action comedy, ‘Hit Man’, starring Glen Powell as Gary Johnson, a former college professor now navigating the tech world. In the new clip, the protagonist finds himself thrust into a daunting role as a hired killer, despite lacking the necessary skills. Set in the early stages of the storyline, Gary expresses his unease with assuming the responsibility of feigning murderous acts for a living.

Directed by Richard Linklater, ‘Hit Man’ premiered globally at last year’s Venice International Film Festival to acclaim, later impressing audiences at the Toronto International Film Festival. Netflix recognized its potential and secured it for its catalogue, offering viewers the chance to enjoy it from the comfort of their homes starting 7th June.

Linklater and Powell co-wrote the screenplay, collaborating to chronicle Gary’s transformation from civilian to trained assassin. The ensemble cast, including Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, and Retta, promises an entertaining and unpredictable tale of a reluctant protagonist thrust into an unwanted situation.

Hit Man’s acquisition by Netflix coincides with Glen Powell’s rising star status, buoyed by his recent success in ‘Anyone But You’ and his role in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. Powell’s next project, ‘Twisters’, a legacy sequel exploring a new team’s fascination with tornadoes, further solidifies his place in Hollywood.

For Linklater, ‘Hit Man’ marks his return to filmmaking following the animated feature, ‘Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood’, loosely inspired by his own life.
