Glen Powell Teases Playing a Unique Superhero Character

Glen Powell discusses his perspective on portraying ‘Batman’ and shares some creative ideas.

During a recent interview with GQ, Powell took a tour around the Warner Bros. Studio lot and stumbled upon the Batmobile section. Expressing his lifelong admiration for Batman, Powell revealed, “I was always a Batman guy. I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to [Michael] Keaton.”

Despite his enthusiasm for ‘Batman’, Powell indicated that he isn’t particularly interested in playing a traditional superhero role. When he encountered Keaton’s iconic Batmobile, he exclaimed, “Oh, sick! See? This is the era.”

Interestingly, Powell has a connection to the DC Universe, having appeared as Trader #1 in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in 2012. Reflecting on his experience, Powell humorously remarked, “I get my head smashed in by Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.”

Powell’s reference to Reeves’s ‘The Batman’ films suggests a departure from the dark, gritty tone typically associated with the character, aligning more closely with Keaton’s portrayal. Robert Pattinson currently portrays ‘Batman’ in the Reeves franchise, with a sequel originally scheduled for release in 2025 but delayed due to industry strikes until 2026.
