‘Grow a Garden’ Becomes a Record-Breaking Roblox Phenomenon

A newly launched Roblox game, 'Grow a Garden', has quickly become one of the platform's biggest hits, hitting record-breaking player activity just months after its release.

Roblox, which has been around since 2006, is home to thousands of user-created games. Over the years, titles like Blox Fruits—an MMORPG inspired by One Piece—and Brookhaven RP, a life simulation game similar to The Sims, have attracted massive followings. However, it's a much newer title that’s currently stealing the spotlight.

According to a post on the Roblox subreddit by user Orzoos, Grow a Garden recently became the first Roblox game to hit 3 million concurrent players, and on May 17, it reportedly reached an astonishing 5 million players online at once. The surge was so intense that it caused performance issues for some Roblox users. The game now boasts more than 1.5 billion visits, close to 900,000 favorites, and a 94% approval rating. It currently ranks among the platform’s top games across several categories, including most popular, featured, and most profitable.

Developed by The Garden Game and launched in March 2025, Grow a Garden is a simulation game that allows players to cultivate their own gardens. With a wide range of crops like carrots, mushrooms, bamboo, and peppers, players can plant, harvest, sell, or even gift their produce. Earnings can be reinvested into seeds, gardening tools, or pets that offer gameplay boosts. There are also special events and crop mutations that unlock rare items, adding another layer of excitement.

Despite being nearly two decades old, Roblox continues to thrive. In March 2025, it surpassed the global population in registered accounts. New experiences like Grow a Garden, a Hell’s Kitchen-inspired title, the zombie survival game Dead Rails, and a quirky burrito giveaway game are keeping players engaged and coming back for more.
