Halle Berry Marks 20th Anniversary of ‘Catwoman’ by Posing Topless With Cats

Halle Berry recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her iconic role as ‘Catwoman’ with a unique tribute on Instagram. The Academy Award winner shared a series of images featuring herself topless, paired with a black and white cat-eye mask, alongside her beloved cats, Boots and Coco. Her post was accompanied by the playful caption, “And STILL… meow!” This heartfelt slideshow highlights Berry’s enduring connection to the character, reflecting on her lasting impact and personal significance.

In her post, Berry expressed her deep affection for the role, stating, “It’s been 20 years today since I had the honour of bringing this iconic character to life. She will always be close to my heart and I will forever be Patience Phillips aka CATWOMAN!” This declaration underscores the role’s importance in her life and her ongoing association with the character.

Berry also took a moment to thank Jee H. Lim, a fellow cat lover who assisted in rescuing her kittens. She wrote, “Thank you @missjee79! When these black beauties showed up in my yard searching for their mother, Jee helped us through the rescue process. Forever grateful! ♥️” Berry further shared her recent experience of rescuing Boots and Coco, describing them as part of her journey with the ‘Catwoman’ role. “I just rescued four kitties I found in my yard three weeks ago,” she noted. “I’m a Catwoman through and through, because of that experience and those relationships. That experience changed me.”

In preparation for her portrayal of ‘Catwoman’, Berry was given a cat named Playdough to study feline behaviour. She revealed, “I watched, studied and learned how cats think,” and described herself as being a “full-on cat, all the time.” Reflecting on the film’s mixed reception, Berry addressed the backlash she faced, saying, “I didn’t want to be casual about it, but I went and collected that Razzie, laughed at myself, and kept it moving.” Her resilience in the face of criticism highlights her determination and strength.

Berry’s remarks also touched on her broader experiences and challenges. She emphasized, “It didn’t derail me because I’ve fought as a Black woman my whole life.” She added, “A little bad publicity about a movie? I didn’t love it, but it wasn’t going to stop my world or derail me from doing what I love to do.”

Berry spoke about her continued commitment to animal rescue, mentioning her efforts to care for the kittens she found. “I found these two little fur babies in my yard along with their 2 siblings and their mom!” she shared. Berry also explained her actions, stating, “I got the mommy spayed and released her back in my yard and she’s now our outdoor cat and the other 2 babies I’ve found a forever home for and these two are our new lovies.”
