Halsey Reveals Secret Health Battles on Social Media
Halsey had been off the radar for a while, leaving fans puzzled about her absence from the music scene. But now she’s back with a new single and a heart-wrenching revelation: she’s been battling lupus. The ‘Eastside’ singer shared a series of videos and photos documenting her struggle with the disease, giving her fans a raw look into her life.
In one particularly moving video, 29-year-old Halsey is seen wincing in pain as she rubs her legs, commenting, “I feel like an old lady.” She confessed that she had hoped to remain healthy until her 30s, but lupus struck unexpectedly.

As she approaches her 30th birthday, the singer is determined to overcome her illness and reinvent herself. “I’m not gonna be sick, and I’m gonna look super hot and have lots of energy and will get to redo my 20s in my 30s,” Halsey declared in another clip.
While Halsey didn’t directly name her condition, she did tag two lupus charities in her post. One of her videos shows her looking frail, wearing a beanie and hospital mask, as she begins treatment. “Today is day one of treatment,” she said, showing the medical equipment she was connected to.
Despite her health challenges, Halsey has channelled her experiences into her music. The singer, who is also a mum to 2-year-old son Ender, revealed she has written a whole new album during this tough period. This will be her fifth studio album, following 2021’s ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.’
Alongside updates on her health, Halsey shared snippets from the creative process of her new album. One video shows her strumming a guitar and singing in the studio. She summed up her journey poignantly: “Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive. Short story long, I wrote an album. It begins with The End. It’s out now.”
