Hayley Williams is “So Ready to Be Tour-Mates” With Taylor Swift
Earlier this week, Hayley Williams and her band Paramore, who were the Ambassadors for Record Store Day 2024, spilled the beans on her weekend playlist, featuring tunes from Taylor Swift. Posting on Instagram Stories, Williams, couldn’t help but gush about Swift’s latest album, describing it as “impressive.”
“Got me hooked with the storytelling alone, my friend. We’ve all felt that kind of heartache! What blows my mind is how Taylor manages to be so vivid and yet so relatable at the same time,” she wrote alongside an image of ‘The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology’ artwork. “Count me in for being tour buddies.”
Williams and Swift first crossed paths back in 2008 when they were both nominated for the ‘Best New Artist’ Grammy.
“We hit it off pretty quickly. She knew I was feeling awkward about attending my ex’s wedding, so she decided to come along, made it a blast, and then we snuck out to hit up the Cheesecake Factory,” reminisced the ‘Hard Times’ singer in PEOPLE’s December cover story.
Swift has remained a steadfast friend ever since.
“She gave me a call recently when I was going through a rough patch, just to chat, crack jokes, and offer some solid advice, which, unsurprisingly, sounded like it could be straight out of her songs,” shared Williams, adding, “She’s got an awesome sense of humour and knows how to have a good time.”
Williams also discovered that Paramore had clinched their first Grammy for ‘Ain’t It Fun’ thanks to the pop sensation, as she revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone.
“I was over in Europe when I found out about the nomination — couldn’t believe it, hadn’t even crossed my mind whether we’d get nominated or not,” recounted the alt-pop artist. “Then, when we won, we weren’t even there. I received texts from both Taylor Swift and [band mate] Taylor York within the space of 30 seconds. Taylor sent me a flurry of capital letters, like ‘[Random noises] thrilled for you!’ I was totally blown away.”
In May, Paramore is lined up to kick off for Swift during the European leg of the Eras Tour.
