Henry Cavill Thinks Nude Scenes Are "Overused"

Henry Cavill has recently opened up about his disdain for filming s*x scenes in movies, branding them as "overused" in cinema. The 40-year-old actor, renowned for his portrayal of DC’s Superman in 'Man Of Steel,' admitted that despite his experience in intimate scenes, particularly in television series like 'The Tudors' and 'The Witcher,' they often left him feeling uneasy.

Speaking candidly on a recent episode of the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, Cavill expressed his perplexity towards s*x scenes, stating, “I don’t understand them – I’m not a fan.” He went on to elaborate, highlighting instances where such scenes could genuinely enhance a movie's narrative rather than merely catering to audience expectations.

“I think sometimes they’re overused these days,” Cavill remarked, noting his discomfort when such scenes lack substance and seem gratuitous. He added, “It’s when you have a sense where you’re going, ‘Is this really necessary or is it just people with less clothing on?’"

The 'Argylle' star further explained that while there are occasions where s*x scenes play a vital role in storytelling, the power of the human imagination often surpasses explicit visuals. “I think s*x scenes can be great in a movie, they can really help with the storytelling, but most of the time the human imagination is going to trump it,” Cavill reflected.

Expressing his discontent with productions solely reliant on physicality rather than meaningful content, Cavill lamented, “So, it can be a little bit of a cop-out if a TV show or a movie is just filled with gyrating bodies and you’re going, ‘Okay, but what is this doing for us apart from the idea of, oh naked person, great’. [I’m] not a fan of doing them.”
