Here’s What Jenna Ortega Will Play in The ‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel

Jenna Ortega has officially confirmed her role as Winona Ryder’s character in the upcoming sequel to Beetlejuice. Directed by Tim Burton, the film will continue the storyline from the original 1988 classic.

Ortega revealed that viewers will need to catch up on Lydia’s story to fully understand the new narrative. Speaking to Vanity Fair, the actress hinted at her character, describing her as “weird, but in a different way and not in the way you’d assume, I would say.” She also mentioned a special connection between her role and Lydia’s character.

Having portrayed a dark character in the popular series ‘Wednesday,’ Ortega shared that Ryder’s performance set a high standard, and she had to overcome challenges to embody the character effectively.

Discussing her role further, Ortega explained, “It’s really strange because it’s a lot of catching up and putting the pieces together of what’s gone on in Lydia’s life since, which is nice, I think, for anybody who loves the character and is excited to see her again.”

She also revealed her character’s name, Astrid and discussed the dynamics of playing a teenager who wants to distance herself from her parents’ interests. Reflecting on the experience of playing Ryder’s daughter, Ortega admitted that portraying the eye-rolling moments was both challenging and enjoyable as an actor.
