Hiroyuki Sanada Eyed For Lead Role in The ‘Ghost Of Tsushima’ Movie

Rumours are swirling that Hiroyuki Sanada, known for his role in ‘Shōgun,’ could be gearing up for a part in the upcoming live-action ‘Ghost Of Tsushima’ movie. According to industry insider DanielRPK, as reported by Eurogamer, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions have their sights set on Sanada for a yet-to-be-disclosed role in the film adaptation of the popular game.

However, nothing’s set in stone just yet. While talks are ongoing, Sanada’s involvement has yet to be officially confirmed. But if he does join the cast, it wouldn’t be unfamiliar territory for the seasoned actor. With a string of Samurai-themed films under his belt, including classics like ‘The Last Samurai’ and ’47 Ronin,’ as well as recent ventures like ‘Mortal Kombat,’ Sanada’s no stranger to the genre.

As for the ‘Ghost Of Tsushima’ film, the cast remains a mystery for now. But what we do know is that Chad Stahelski, the mastermind behind the action-packed ‘John Wick’ franchise, is set to direct. The project was announced back in 2021 by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, with Sucker Punch Productions onboard as executive producers.

One burning question remains: will the script stay true to the game’s Japanese roots, or will it take a different linguistic route? After all, the game’s dialogue is originally delivered in Japanese.
