Kate Hudson has revealed her enthusiasm for a sequel to the 2006 hit romantic comedy, ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.’ During a chat with Andy Cohen on ‘Watch What Happens’ Live, Hudson expressed her and co-star Matthew McConaughey’s interest in reprising their roles provided the right script comes along.
The original film, based on Jeannie Long’s novel, became an iconic part of the early 2000s rom-com scene, with Hudson’s memorable yellow dress and the film’s charming plot directed by Donald Petrie. Reflecting on the possibility of a sequel, Hudson said, “All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script. I think we’re both totally open; it has just never happened.”

Matthew McConaughey has also shown interest in a sequel. In 2020, he mentioned, “I mean, ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ is teed up for one that you could easily do a sequel. And that was a really good one. As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one. And it lasts. People still love that one. I enjoyed that one quite a bit.”
The film celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023, reigniting conversations about a potential sequel. Hudson shared that many fans have inquired about a second instalment, though nothing concrete has emerged. Speaking about working with McConaughey again, she said, “I love working with Matthew, so I’m sure at some point we’ll work together again.”
Hudson also speculated on the future of their characters, Andie and Ben. “My hope is that [Andie and Ben] are happy; they’ve got a bunch of kids, they got married, and they’re still playing ‘bullshit’ with his parents. If there was a sequel, I’m sure there would be some conflict in there somewhere.”
