Hugh Jackman is stepping into a playful and unusual mystery that's set to arrive in 2026.
Amazon MGM Studios has released the trailer for 'The Sheep Detectives,' a lighthearted murder mystery that puts an unexpected twist on the genre. Jackman plays George, a kindhearted shepherd who spends his evenings reading detective novels to his flock, convinced they don't understand a word he's saying.
About 'The Sheep Detectives'
Everything changes when George is found dead in a field. Drawing on everything they've learned from his nightly readings, the sheep decide to take matters into their own hooves. As life on the farm is thrown into chaos, the flock begins investigating the crime, following clues and studying the humans around them. Along the way, they prove they're far sharper than anyone ever imagined.

Jackman stars alongside 'Succession' actor Nicholas Braun, who plays an overwhelmed police officer assigned to the case.
'The Sheep Detectives' Cast
The cast includes Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, and Emma Thompson. Adding to the fun, a star-studded group lends their voices to the sheep, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus leading the ensemble as Lily. Other voices include Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein, Rhys Darby, and more.

The film is directed by Kyle Balda, known for the 'Minions' films and 'Despicable Me 3,' and written by Emmy-winning creator Craig Mazin of 'The Last of Us' and 'Chernobyl.'
'The Sheep Detectives' is one of several upcoming projects for Jackman. He'll next be seen in 'Song Sung Blue,' releasing on 25th December, and is also set to star in 'The Death of Robin Hood,' scheduled for June 2026.
'The Sheep Detectives' hits theatres on 8th May.
