Inside Taylor Swift and Florence Welch’s ‘Florida!!!’ Recording

Taylor Swift is giving fans an inside look at the creation of ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ Taylor Nation, Swift’s official fan site, posted a behind-the-scenes Instagram clip showing Swift and Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine recording ‘Florida!!!’

In the black-and-white clip, Welch is seen inside a recording booth while Swift films herself, clearly thrilled with the collaboration.

“The level of talent that was in the recording studio this day 🤯,” reads the caption of the clip, which also credits Emma Stone for her contribution to the song. Welch expressed her excitement for the song after Swift’s album featuring it was released, sharing an Instagram post.

In it, she wrote, “Me and my ghosts we had a hell of a time 🖤 @taylorswift Honoured to be in this department.” The post included animated lyrics from the song and letterhead that said “Florence Welch Department of Hurricanes and Haunted Lace Florida.”

In an interview with British Vogue in the same month, Welch recounted her experience recording with Swift, noting that Swift approached her with “a concept and a story.” While she enjoyed the process, Welch admitted she wasn’t prepared for the level of attention it would receive. She described Swift as both a superstar and a down-to-earth person who enjoys spending time in the studio.

Swift had previously shared the inspiration behind the track with iHeartRadio, explaining it as exploring the feeling of when life doesn’t go as planned and you just want to escape. She reflected on the harsh consequences and judgment one might face, leading to the question, “Is there a place you could go?”
